Baby Photography Raleigh NC | Sweet Little Anthony

Welcome to the world, baby Anthony! He was sooooo cute and such a delight. He came in for his first photo shoot at 10 days old. His hair was just the best – so thick and gorgeous. He was just perfection to pose and snuggle, I loved it. His Mama requested grey, so you’ll see lots of that, along with her other favorites of tans and greens. His parents wanted to get in a few photos, and they’re a beautiful family. Their photos are so gorgeous!

Since we held Anthony’s baby session shortly before Easter, I made sure to get a photo of him snuggling my cute little stuffed bunny. And Anthony gave me a HUGE smile while he was hugging that bunny! The heart shaped bucket that Anthony is posed in is a new prop in my Raleigh newborn studio. I also have a pink one I’ve used in the past, but I just got the brown wooden one, and it’s just so beyond adorable for both boys and girls! A new favorite prop of mine for sure!

I love capturing these precious memories for families. They’re only this little once, and they change so quickly! So get them in for their newborn photo session within the first three weeks of life. We’ll create some beautiful art for you to remember this stage by. You won’t be sorry!

Raleigh NC Baby Photographer | Cute Everly

Adorable baby Everly came to me when she was eleven days old. She was so tiny and sweet! Such a stunning baby, with her thick beautiful hair and creamy skin. She was absolutely amazing for her photo session!

Everly’s Mom requested some pink and purple, as well as a little bit of Carolina blue to represent the University of North Carolina! And her one request when it came to poses the one with baby propped up on her elbows, also knows as the froggy pose (first photo below). That’s definitely my most requested pose. And Everly was nice and cooperative so I could make that happen for her Mommy. And of course she cooperated for much more too, as you’ll see below. So much variety for her Raleigh baby photography session!

Raleigh Baby Photographer | Little Milo

Today I’m sharing baby boy Milo with all of you! We did his newborn session during a rare snow storm here in Raleigh, NC! Nothing could stop us from capturing that cuteness! 🙂

Baby Milo was soooo handsome, as were his two big brothers. We captured the most beautiful photos of the three boys together. Just so very cute! They were my favorite shots of the session.

Milo’s mommy requested some navy blue, and that sweet “froggy” pose (with the baby propped up on his elbows). Milo was so sweet and cooperative, and I loved my time with him.

Infant Photography Raleigh NC | Baby Harrison

After having a whole lot of baby girls in my Wake Forest newborn photography studio, I’m happy to say that there have finally been some baby boys being born!! 🙂 I ended up with three infant boys in a row, which was a record for 2018. There had just been SO MANY baby girls last year. Little Harrison came to my studio around Christmas time, so you’ll notice we did a couple of Christmas themed setups. Harrison has a beautiful big sister who was excited to get in the photos with baby Harrison, which I (of course) loved. Sibling and infant photos are just the best! They cuddled each other so perfectly, it was lovely to see!

RALEIGH NC NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER | Baby Jackson

Baby Jackson was another Christmas baby who I got to meet at the end of 2018. Jackson was born several weeks early and spent some time in the NICU, so I ended up meeting him when he was several weeks old, and still very tiny!

Jackson’s parents opted for one of my newborn mini-sessions. These are the one-hour sessions that are a flat fee of $400 and include a digital download of 15-20 fully edited, high resolution digital files. Depending on how sleepy the baby is, it’s not unusual for me to deliver more than the promised 15-20!

We did an absolutely adorable Christmas themed photo, per Jackson’s mommy’s request. It was perfect for the family to use on their Christmas cards. I loved it so much, especially the one with Jackson’s tiny arm dangling and holding the candy cane!

And Jackson had the cutest features and amazing lashes, so I adore all of the close ups of his sweet baby face! His newborn photo session was just perfect! I loved meeting him and his sweet family!

Adorable baby Elena was sooo absolutely perfect! That skin! Those cheeks! That hair! Oh my goodness, what a beautiful baby she is!

Elena’s family came to me a few years back for their older daughter, Liliana’s, newborn portraits. I was excited to see them again and meet their new addition. And of course Liliana came along and we did some amazing sibling photos. I absolutely love them, especially the ones where Liliana is snuggling baby Elena.

Elena’s newborn photo session was held when she was 11 days old, and it happened to be shortly before Christmas. I had fun incorporating some Christmas elements into her newborn session so the family could use the photos for their Christmas cards. I have a big selection of Christmas themed props, so I always put them to good use every November and December! WAKE FOREST NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER | Baby Dorothy

I’m excited to show a few outdoor shots we got with cute baby Dorothy (back when it was warmer!). I get asked a lot to do outdoor newborn photos, and I really adore doing them, however we’re very limited in the months we can do them. Baby Dorothy had her session back in September, and it was *just* barely warm enough outside. Usually May through September is when we can attempt outdoor shots here in North Carolina.

I have a great space outside of my Wake Forest, NC studio where I shoot these photos. It’s really easy to pop outdoors during a session and get a few great shots. If you’re wanting to do some outdoor photos as part of your newborn session, please don’t hesitate to ask! It’s no extra cost, and super easy. And of course the results are just beautiful!

Now onto sweet baby Dorothy’s photos! Her family hired me for their older daughter’s newborn portraits a few years ago as well, so I was happy to have them back this time around as their family has grown. Dorothy was just adorable, with an ample amount of chub! 🙂 Her parents requested purple and green to be used throughout the session, which were colors they used at their wedding. And they also wanted some blue to be used, because it was Dorothy’s Grandmother’s favorite color (I love mixing in some blue with baby girls!). Here are some favorites of mine from little Dorothy’s newborn session!

Baby Emerson | RALEIGH WAKE FOREST NC NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER

Before we get to little Emerson’s newborn session share, I wanted to touch on the topic of family and sibling photos during newborn sessions. I currently have two different newborn session options – mini sessions and full sessions. The mini is the quick, no-fuss option. A shorter session with time for baby photos only, and just one price for the session and a digital download of the photos. The full session gives us plenty of time to get family photos and/or photos with any big brothers and sisters, as well as lots of different options for prints, digital files, or products to purchase after the session.

I get asked a lot what clients should wear for their family photo, and my preference is that folks always wear something simple. You don’t want a lot of bright colors, patterns, florals, etc. that will go out of style in a few years. A simple, neutral colored top (think cream, grey, white, black, or soft colors) with basic jeans or pants is ideal. We’ll swaddle baby in a basic wrap, or go nude for some sweet skin shots. The simpler we keep everything, the better the photo will be. Of course, this is just my personal preference for the style of your photos! You are more than welcome to wear whatever you think represents you and your family the best!

And now onto this sweet baby girl named Emerson. This is another family where I was fortunate to photograph the older sibling as a baby, and as he got older (back when I still offered family sessions). And as always, I’m so delighted to welcome back past clients into my Wake Forest, NC newborn studio for another baby session! Emerson was gorgeous, and I love all of the family and sibling photos we did that day. Here are a few of my favorites!

Baby Katherine | RALEIGH DURHAM NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER

I have another beautiful baby girl to feature today! But I first wanted to touch on something I get asked by parents a lot before their newborn sessions: “how should we prep the baby?” There are a few tips I give new parents to answer this question, because the goal for each session is to have a baby who is sleepy, and whose tummy is full. That’s really the secret to great newborn photos!

So, let’s tackle the sleepy issue. If a baby sleeps at home all morning before the session, then it’s more likely they’ll be rested up and awake during their session. So the trick to make sure this doesn’t happen, is simply to do what you can to keep them awake for a little while before you leave for the session! Sometimes babies can be hard to wake up (which isn’t usually something I’d call a problem, unless you’re about to come see me for a session!). If your baby is super sleepy and not easy to keep awake, you can try giving them a bath, or maybe even just undressing them and changing their diaper to stimulate them. Wipe them with a wipe on their bottom and they’re usually WIDE awake!

The second thing we want to accomplish is to have baby come with a full tummy. So this seems like a no-brainer… feed the baby right before you leave, right? Well YES! But it’s actually more than that. Some newborn babies wake every hour in need of a feed. The trick to making sure that doesn’t happen during your session is to feed them a LOT during the 24 hours before your session. For example, I recently had someone whose baby was really hungry and wide awake for most of their session. I wasn’t surprised when the mom told me her baby had slept through the night with no feedings the night before. So, wake that baby up if they’re going on more than 3 hours without a feeding. Most doctors advise to feed newborns at least every 3 hours, so make sure to follow that rule the entire day and night prior to your session. Then they’re more likely to have a longer sleepy stretch during their newborn session. And all of this ensures we can get as many poses and setups done during a session as possible. And more setups = more pictures = more cuteness!!

So that’s my two cents for getting that baby ready for his or her big photo debut!

And last but not least is baby Katherine! Such a cutie who came in for a newborn mini-session in my Wake Forest studio (more details on the mini-session available on my website!). Loved her sweet little smiles she gave me, and her amazing hair!

Baby Piper | RALEIGH DURHAM NC NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER

Little baby Piper was the second baby I’ve photographed for this family, and I was elated to see them again and meet their newest little one! I adore the name Piper – such a cute choice of name. And I believe this is the first baby named Piper I’ve ever photographed! Piper’s session was so amazing. She was so sleepy and curly, and we created some beautiful art for her family.
