Today I want to share some of the beautiful newborn portraits from baby girl Laney’s photo session, and I’m also going to cover some helpful items you’ll need to bring to your baby’s newborn photo session.

Baby Laney was so adorable and perfect for her Chapel Hill newborn photo session. Wait until you see her beautiful eyelashes, and stunning skin! Her mama requested jewel tones like ruby red. I love getting to use these gorgeous colors for newborn photos! They were such a nice complement to Laney’s skin tones. I just love the variety of props and poses that I was able to achieve for baby Laney’s portraits!

For those planning their baby’s newborn photography session, there are a few things that are so essential in helping this run smoothly. First, I always request parents bring along a pacifier, even if their baby hasn’t used one yet. Babies have a natural sucking reflex, and it helps to soothe and relax them. It’s SO important in soothing babies into those cute little poses! And second, a way to feed baby is necessary while you’re in the newborn photo studio. For those moms who aren’t nursing, please bring along a bottle. Often we do have to pause partway through a photo session for baby to feed, since they eat so often!

Other than these items, I have everything else we’ll need! I always keep a full supply of diapers, wipes, burp cloths, snacks for hungry moms… it’s all provided! 🙂
