Today I want to share some of the beautiful newborn portraits from baby girl Laney’s photo session, and I’m also going to cover some helpful items you’ll need to bring to your baby’s newborn photo session.

Baby Laney was so adorable and perfect for her Chapel Hill newborn photo session. Wait until you see her beautiful eyelashes, and stunning skin! Her mama requested jewel tones like ruby red. I love getting to use these gorgeous colors for newborn photos! They were such a nice complement to Laney’s skin tones. I just love the variety of props and poses that I was able to achieve for baby Laney’s portraits!

For those planning their baby’s newborn photography session, there are a few things that are so essential in helping this run smoothly. First, I always request parents bring along a pacifier, even if their baby hasn’t used one yet. Babies have a natural sucking reflex, and it helps to soothe and relax them. It’s SO important in soothing babies into those cute little poses! And second, a way to feed baby is necessary while you’re in the newborn photo studio. For those moms who aren’t nursing, please bring along a bottle. Often we do have to pause partway through a photo session for baby to feed, since they eat so often!

Other than these items, I have everything else we’ll need! I always keep a full supply of diapers, wipes, burp cloths, snacks for hungry moms… it’s all provided! 🙂

Wake Forest Newborn Photographer | Baby Girl Madelyn

I met baby Madelyn right before Christmas, and loved our Wake Forest newborn photo session together. We got some adorable photos of her with Mom and Dad, and some precious prop shots (see the one of her snuggling the little bear!), several sweet sleepy poses on the blankets, and some detail shots of her perfect little face, eyelashes, and toes.

Madelyn’s family opted for my “keepsake” newborn photo session option, which is an hour and a half of posing and photographing the baby in my Wake Forest baby photo studio. This session allows us time for a few family photos, with focus still on the baby’s photos. In the keepsake sessions, I also aim for a couple of different baby props, and some of the snuggly little sleeping poses on the blanket. I always switch out hats and headbands, and get lots of angles in each pose as well. So this gives us some variety and covers the main bases that most people want. For the most variety, I recommend the “full” newborn photo session option, which is two hours of time together, and we can get a lot more photos with just a little extra time added on.

Durham Baby Photographer | Newborn Baby Girl Love

Today we’re sharing another newborn “mini” photo session in Melissa’s Wake Forest photo studio. This cute baby girl is named Love! Such a unique and fitting name for her, as she is so very loved by her sweet parents! She was a precious little angel for her Raleigh newborn photo session. She looked so beautiful in all the pinks, purples, and creams!

This baby girl’s mama followed all of Melissa’s tips to get baby Love sleepy before her photo session, and she also came with a belly full of milk. So baby Love slept peacefully while Melissa worked through a lot of different props and sleepy poses. We managed to get so much variety in this one-hour mini portrait session! She looked adorable in the bucket, the wooden bowl, and in the little nakey poses on the blanket! Wake Forest Newborn Baby Photography | Baby Amelia

Wait until you see beautiful baby girl, Amelia!! She was three weeks old when she came into Melissa’s newborn baby photography studio in Wake Forest. Three weeks is a PERFECT age for babies. This is when newborns have typically worked out all the kinks – feeding issues, allergies, etc. and they are just all around more relaxed and happy. And sure enough, Amelia did not disappoint! Great facial expressions, some awake photos, and also a good long sleeping stretch so we could achieve the traditional sleepy baby poses too.

Amelia was accompanied by her gorgeous family… so many wonderful Mom and baby portraits, dad plus baby photos, sibling photos, and of course family photos with everyone included. We love the beautiful family portraits with new baby! They’re just so very special!

Pink, purple and cream – all so girly and beautiful on this baby girl. She was a ball of chub, which I looooove on a newborn. The big cheeks and rolls are to die for! I was so thrilled with her photo gallery, and all of the variety. The baby face close-up shots were my favorites, as well as the photos of her in the purple, which I thought was beautiful on her. Newborn Photographer Wake Forest | Baby Boy Photo Session

This family came to me last month in need of a newborn photographer for their new bundle of joy! This little guy preferred being wrapped up tight, which is how babies feel safe and secure. So I stuck with a lot of wrapped photos to keep him happy and peaceful, which did the trick! I always try for a mix of both, and this little guy was mostly only happy wrapped up – it happens!

But I did pull off a few of the naked poses at the very beginning before he started to get upset. His mom had asked for some green, as well as some blue. And she wanted a shot with the teddy bear, which turned out SO cute! The photos of babies snuggled with teddy bears are always among my favorites. The other favorite of mine is all the detail shots – the toes, the lips, the ears! Just absolutely precious, tiny little details, and I love capturing this for parents as their newborn photographer in Wake Forest.

Youngsville Baby Photographer | Six Month Photos

I met this family in the fall for a six month / baby’s first year photo session for their youngest boy! They opted for an outdoor portrait session with a Youngsville baby photographer. I adore outdoor photos at this specific park near Raleigh, it’s one of my favorite locations. And we had beautiful fall leaves on the ground the week we were there, which added to the beauty of the park. This handsome little guy was celebrating being a very big six months old! He was just learning how to sit up on his own, so we helped to prop him up in some little buckets and baskets. And he did show off his sitting skills for a quick minute in one of the photos! Gorgeous baby girl Emma is up next to share today from Cary baby photographer! Emma was such a pleasure to work with, and I loved my time with her. She was a beautiful baby girl, with perfect lovely long lashes, and so smiley. I was excited about the number of smiles that I caught with her. I love those little baby smiles! And Emma had a beautiful and unique birthmark in the shape of a heart on her cheek. Her mom wanted it to be noticeable in the pics too – I can see why. It makes her one of a kind! Raleigh Baby’s First Year Photo Session | Baby Charlie

Handsome little Charlie came into my Wake Forest photo studio for his Baby’s First Year photo session! He was just adorable as can be, and SO expressive! He was full of personality, and a little ham! We had so much fun together capturing his first year photos. He was just turning one, and we wanted to capture all of his cuteness at this stage. His mom brought along some of his favorite moose stuffed animals that we used for some photos as well. I absolutely love doing Raleigh baby’s first year photo sessions!

As you’ll see, we decided to do a cake smash as part of Charlie’s first year photo session. I always love doing these and watching babies enjoy their first bites of cake! If you’d like to include some cake smash photos as part of your baby’s photo session, this is super simple! I just ask Moms to bring their own cake (for allergy & liability reasons), and I provide everything else! I have plenty of props like buckets, baskets, stools, backdrops, etc. for in-studio sessions. Or we can meet at a local park and take outdoor photos.
