We recently had the pleasure of welcoming a very special baby into our studio, conveniently located for families in the greater Raleigh area. His name is Archer, and we were absolutely delighted to meet him. While we photograph many beautiful babies, we have actually never had a baby named Archer in the studio before! We adore how unique and sweet this name is.

This lovely family traveled from nearby to see us for their Raleigh, NC newborn photography experience. It was a wonderful session filled with perfect poses and treasured personal items.

The Head-on-Hands Pose: Nailed It!

During the booking process, Archer’s mom and dad specifically requested the classic “head-on-hands” pose. This is a staple in Raleigh, NC newborn photography, but it requires the baby to be in a deep, comfortable sleep and for the photographer to have specialized posing expertise.

Archer was an absolute superstar and totally nailed this pose. He was so settled and peaceful that it quickly became the favorite shot of the entire session. It takes patience and gentle guidance to achieve this look safely, and Archer made it look effortless.

A Personal Touch: The Heirloom Quilt

One of the most meaningful parts of any newborn session is when families incorporate items from home. For this session, Mom and Dad brought a beautiful quilt that was handmade for Archer by a relative.

Incorporating heirloom items adds a deeply personal narrative to newborn portrait sessions. It transforms the photos from simply beautiful images into priceless family history. We carefully wrapped Archer in this special blanket, ensuring the intricate details of the quilt were visible while keeping him cozy and secure.

Archer’s Adorable Facial Expressions

While the goal is always to have the baby sleeping soundly for posing, we also love capturing their little personalities when they are in a lighter sleep or just waking up.

As we were photographing Archer with his quilt, he began making the most adorable facial expressions. From tiny squints to little milk smiles, these candid moments are often the ones parents cherish the most. It was the perfect way to wrap up a fantastic session.
